Michael Kline is a lifelong artist, educator, craftsman, and facilitator whose work is rooted in the belief that creativity is essential to human well-being.
His journey has been guided by both artistic practice and contemplative living. In his twenties, Michael spent six years living and studying at Plum Village, the Buddhist monastery of the late Venerable Thich Nhat Hanh in France, immersed in the practice of mindful living. This time and the ensuing years of ongoing spiritual exploration continue to shape the way he approaches teaching, art, and relationships—with presence, patience, and deep attention. For more than thirty years, Michael has worked as an educator in the fine and practical arts, inspiring children, adults, educators, and professionals through painting, sculpture, woodworking, metalworking, and other traditional crafts. Throughout his career, he has witnessed the remarkable capacity of artistic practice to quiet the mind, cultivate focus, awaken creativity, and strengthen human connection. Michael believes that the creative process is not about artistic talent or producing a perfect result. It is about engaging wholeheartedly with the present moment. Through working with our hands, we rediscover curiosity, resilience, imagination, and the satisfaction that comes from making something with intention. |
