In this outdoor course we will use hand tools and foot-powered pole lathes* to turn unseasoned ('green') wood into beautiful, useful objects. Starting with a freshly felled tree we will proceed to use the shaving horse, hatchets, drawknives, drills, hand saws, mallets, chisels, and gouges to create items such as rolling pins, spoons, baby rattles, candlesticks, and stools.
Children 12 and older are welcome if accompanied by an adult (either participating and working on their own projects and paying, or just helping their child and not paying).
All tools are provided, but feel free to bring your own if you have them. No previous woodworking experience is necessary. Bring water and snacks. Maximum enrollment is 6 participants/session.
