This piece is made from a branch of mountain laurel which I debarked and trimmed to bring out its natural, flowing form. The branch is mounted on a disc of salvaged plywood which has been painted with acrylic and adorned with a 23K gold leaf sun. It is 27" wide, 25" tall, protrudes 9" from the wall, and has 9 perch points.

I handcraft the 'birds on branches' series with branches that I find in nature and birds that I make from alabaster, soapstone, and pipestone. Each branch has holes drilled which provide perch points for pins which hold the birds.
